Jujutsu is a complete and highly effective self-defence system. Its origins are traced back to Japan’s Samurai warriors who used jujutsu for self protection. Jujutsu is recognised as the mother art because many other martial arts developed from it. Aikido Judo, Ken Jutsu, and even some forms of Karate can trace their roots back to jujutsu. Loosely translated as the Gentle Art, the principle of jujutsu is to utilise skill, rather than force and selective application, rather than strength. The techniques of jujutsu include: joint locks, strangles, throws and strikes. Each set of techniques can be used in conjunction with one another to formulate an awesome arsenal of self-defence, either standing or on the ground.
All Tai Jutsu Kai clubs follow a carefully designed and proven grading syllabus, with new students enrolling in an induction programme, which is normally between 10 to 12 weeks.
The Tai Jutsu Kai syllabus is a culmination of over 35 years training and study by Tasshi Ross Iannoccaro of both the classical and sporting formats of jujutsu. The syllabus covers all aspects of jujutsu from practical and effective self defence to authentic Samurai arts (Kobudo), to the popular Kumite & Grappling competition skills.
Our clubs offer something for everyone, from beginners to advanced students. Offering a friendly training atmosphere and carefully structured goals and events.
